Job Duties
Helicopter Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on H-60, CH-47 and various fixed wing aircraft series as required; performs functions as a Designated Inspector and operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that all inspections are properly performed on completed work and the proper inspection records, reports and forms are properly executed prior to releasing the aircraft for safe for flight operations.
Ensures that current pertinent Aircraft Manufacturers’ technical data (blueprints) or US Army Technical Manuals are used as appropriate for work being accomplished.
Ensures that tools and precision test equipment used on work being accomplished has a current calibration label, if the tool or test equipment requires calibration.
Ensures that no defective, unserviceable, or non-airworthy parts are installed on or in aircraft, components or articles released for flight operations. Ensures that rejected and unserviceable parts are handled in such a way as to prevent their reuse.
Submits reports of defects of non-airworthy condition in accordance with Aircraft Manufacturers’ requirements and/or US Army regulations. Follows MRB procedure as required for production aircraft.
Conducts the preliminary, hidden damage, in process, and final inspection of all articles processed in relation to work being accomplished and records inspection results.
Ensures that all equipment/components removed for repair and/or to gain access are properly documented, tagged and identified on the appropriate forms.
Ensures continuity of inspection; assuring completion of required inspections when personnel, shift, or assignment changes occur.
Be thoroughly familiar with all inspection methods, techniques and practices used in areas of responsibility to determine the quality of airworthiness of an aircraft undergoing maintenance or modifications.
Shall contact the Quality Control Manager should there be any conflicts with other designated inspectors related to the release for flight of an aircraft and or component parts thereof.
Ensures that appropriate maintenance manual repair and inspection procedures, service bulletins and letters and other data as appropriate for work being accomplished are included as part of the work order. For production work, all work is completed in accordance with the released engineering, i.e., blueprints or process specifications.
Ensures that the work order discrepancy corrective action is adequate for the work accomplished and that preliminary inspections are accomplished on applicable articles.
Shall not perform inspections on any installations in which he has performed work.
Shall ensure that parts/components as received from the parts department are accompanied by proper identification and traceability.
Job Qualifications
Minimum of 7 Years of UH-60 / CH-47 Experience is required

Education and Experience:
Must have at least 7 years of experience in all phases of CH-47 and/or H-60 and/or various fixed wing aircraft maintenance and systems troubleshooting, including three years of prior Technical Inspector experience. Extensive Flight Engineer experience may be considered equivalent. Preferred to be familiar with and experienced in the use of US Army Technical Manuals/IETMs, Technical Bulletins, DA 2408 series forms and records, and DA PAM 738-751.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government/military regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as torque requirements, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with an assortment of variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual should have experience using Microsoft Office software. Preferred: experience with US Army specific applications.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with others and contribute in a team environment. Must be able to perform independently when required and make decisions based on available information combined with experience.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
